Production of drugs will double in 2013 (as compared with 2009)

Ministry of economic development of Russia has elaborated a socio-economic development forecast for Russian Federation in 2011 and also for 2012-2013 planned periods. The forecast includes the results of socio-economic development of Russian Federation from January to July 2010 and also information provided by executive bodies and Bank of Russia.

There are two basic variants of the forecast (1b and 2b) based on moderate (conservative) estimation of external economic conditions. “The pharmaceutical bulletin” reports that, according to the 2b forecast, production of drugs will double in 2013 as compared with 2009. The percentage of drugs belonging to the most important pharmaceutical groups will make up in 2013: antibiotics in packing - 148,4%; antibiotics in ampoules – 250%; blood and plasma substitutes in packing – 258%; in ampoules – 112,9%; analgesic drugs and antipyretic agents in packing – 111,5%; in ampoules – 203,7%; vitamins in packing – 220,5%; in ampoules – 129,3%; ophthalmologic drugs in packing – 193,4%; endocrine drugs and others – 169,7% and 282,9%, respectively; oncologic drugs in packing – 120,3%; in ampoules – 130%.

The export of pharmaceutical production will make up 167,4% in 2013 as compared with 2009; the import will make up 135,6%.

The adoption of federal target program entitled “The development of pharmaceutical and medical industry of Russian Federation till 2020” will be a key factor defining the substantial development of the industry in medium-term perspective. The program is aimed for the modernization of production capacity and technical extension of more than 150 pharmaceutical and medical enterprises; creation of world class research institution.
