Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers becomes an official partner of Prix Galien Prize held in Russia for the first time

The world-famous Prix Galien Prize, created in France in 1970, is the most prestigious prize in biotechnologies and the pharmaceutical industry, which is annually awarded for outstanding achievements in the development of innovative treatment methods and technologies. The Galien Foundation has now decided to include Russia in the list of host countries for the competition, beginning from 2013.

“Support of innovations based on compliance and protection of intellectual property rights is one of the most essential principles of AIPM work that is why the Association is delighted to support the organizers of Prix Galien Russia. Carrying out of such prestigious competition in Russia can become a strong driving force for innovations in healthcare and will facilitate patients’ access to new efficient and safe treatment methods,” said Vladimir Shipkov, Executive Director of AIPM.

In his turn, the General Secretary of Prix Galien Russia, Frederic Boucheseiche added: “entering the Russian market is a vitally important stage in the Prize’s history, and we are very pleased that the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers supports the organizing committee. We are sure that longstanding experience of the Association will allow Prix Galien Russia to become a milestone event for the Russian pharmaceutical industry”.

The ceremony for awarding the first laureates is scheduled for October 2013. The winners will be determined by an independent jury consisting of leading Russian medical and scientific experts and representatives of regulatory bodies. Prizewinners will also have an opportunity to take part in the international Prix Galien competition, which is held every two years.
